Over the years, I've been gifted with cameras of various sorts.....yes, including the one I shoot w/ today. I have kept each thoughtful gift as a source to KEEP ON SHOOTING!
This here is the good ol' Pentax cam. I was amaze to find film still in this bad boy. Of course, I RUINED it when I "discovered" the film...lol! It was broken when it was given to me. And one day, I'll look into getting it repaired. But as for now, I just like looking at it:) The Pentax... ...
This next piece is quite interesting...lol! Again another gift. I thought it was a toy because the body was ans is way lite. But low and behold, it has film in it too! And though I have never thrown batteries in this guy to see how or if it works, I think it's cute. And I'm glad I decided to keep it. Here's the ....ummm...what is this?....oh...Canon (made in Japan)... ... ...
Last, but SO not least... ... ...
Here is the infamous KODAK! My very first digital camera. This here is what started it all...lol! It was a Christmas gift given years ago by a dear friend. She was tired of me asking my sister if I could use her camera (film) ....and I was tired of hookin' up (and/or using) those DISPOSABLE cameras....lol! Beware future interns...you may be asked to use this one day!
Notice The scrathes on this thing...
I put this thing to straight work! I didn't have a printer...so after EACH AND EVERY session/event...I would rush to Target and stand at their photo kiosk for hours cropin' and changing the color to an image or two. They only gave the option of black & white or sepia...so it wasn't to hard to choose. Photoshop wasn't even a thought...lol! I'm still like "wow" that people allowed/wanted me to shoot them w/ this thing.
KHAPTURES?!! Lol...what is that?! Who is that?! I didn't even consider myself a "photographer"...let alone a "PROFESSIONAL PHOTOGRAPHER"! Friends and fam nicknamed me "the paparazzi"...lol!I must say, that the images taken by my trusted Kodak has afforded me several "wow opportunities". One image got me a seat in the Ross Oscar Knight Experience in '08. But most importantly, if it wasn't for mi el Kodako...lol...I wouldn't have the most awesomely patient mentor a mentoree could have! She saw potential in this... my JC Penney's album/portfolio... ... ...
And these...
I thought I was doing alright before meeting up with Ms.KP! Then I saw her work...I wanted to throw this book and camera in the trash and focus on my day job...lol!
Sitting here putting this blog together has reminded me that my Lord has been GOOOOOD to me! When I wasn't looking for a mentor...He gave me the best one out there. When I didn't know I needed a "professional" camera...I was GIVEN a couple of them, and taught how to use them...lol! When I wanted to practice my craft, I've ALWAYS had willing subjects...lol! And guess what, a sistah has a portfolio. YES!! Ok...it's not quite finished...lol...but it is SO nothing like the deal above. I can go on and on...as the list is so endless. Why do I complain/worry so much? (Different blog for a different day).
Ok! This pretty LONG WINDED blog entry is coming to a close...lol! Can you believe it's 4:48 in the a.m.?! What can I say...I'm a single (for now), childless (for now), night-owl photographer that has no clients booked today:) I do, however, have a very special meeting w/ my oh so awesome Lord in a few!
Catch ya on the next SO moment!
